Athens Pride and Queer Collective welcomes new executive director

Elliot Williamson
Elliot Williamson
Elliot Williamson is the new Executive Director of the Athens Pride and Queer Collective.

Athens Pride and Queer Collective has never had a paid employee—until about two months ago. Elliot Williamson is both APQC’s first-ever staff member and executive director.

WUGA’s Alexia Ridley sat down with him to discuss this new era in the organization’s development—and the moments in history that most inspire his advocacy on behalf of other LGBTQIA+ Athenians. Here’s that conversation.

Alexia Ridley joined WUGA as Television and Radio News Anchor and Reporter in 2013. When WUGA TV concluded operations, she became the primary Reporter for WUGA Radio. Alexia came to Athens from Macon where she served as the News Director and show host for WGXA TV. She's a career journalist and Savannah native hailing from the University of Michigan. However, Alexia considers herself an honorary UGA DAWG!
Emma Auer is an award-winning reporter who joined WUGA as a full-time producer in 2024. She is also a graduate student in UGA's Romance Languages Department, studying French and Spanish. She covers the breadth of Northeast Georgia stories, from Athens City Hall to Winterville farmers' markets. Emma's work has also been heard on Georgia Public Broadcasting.
