WUGA has been Northeast Georgia’s source for free, in-depth local journalism since 1987. It’s also one of hundreds of member stations of the National Public Radio network, bringing national and international news to the region. Loyal public media listeners may recognize the voice of NPR’s Ailsa Chang, who hosts All Things Considered each weekday afternoon.

She sat down with WUGA’s Emma Auer to discuss the value of public media and her hopes for the industry.

WUGA wants to keep unbiased, fact-based news free and accessible to all in Northeast Georgia while training the next generation of public media reporters. Consider donating today to help us sustain our mission. Thanks for listening—and supporting.

Emma Auer is an award-winning reporter who joined WUGA as a full-time producer in 2024. She is also a graduate student in UGA's Romance Languages Department, studying French and Spanish. She covers the breadth of Northeast Georgia stories, from Athens City Hall to Winterville farmers' markets. Emma's work has also been heard on Georgia Public Broadcasting.
