Commissioner Ovita Thornton discusses platform for District 9 race

At an agenda setting meeting on September 21, District 9 Commissioner Ovita Thornton was skeptical of a plan to change the county's charter.

Ovita Thornton has represented District 9 on the Athens-Clarke County Commission since 2019 and recently announced her campaign for re-election. Commissioner Thornton sat down with WUGA’s Emma Auer to discuss her platform—and how the Commission can address the gap in trust between the elected body and the community.
