100+ Women Who Care Athens Celebrates 10 Year Anniversary

An Athens nonprofit which supports other nonprofits will mark 10 years in the community this year.

100+ Women Who Care Athens is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Members of the grassroots philanthropic group donate $100 four times a year to local nonprofit organizations. Founder Sherry Clouser.

“We meet four times a year to talk about local nonprofits, and learn about local nonprofits,” Clouser said. “We hear about three each quarter. We vote for our favorite of those three and then whoever wins the vote, we all write a check for $100 to that organization.”

The group has donated $275,000 to more than 30 nonprofits since 2015. Clouser says their donations are often magnified through a national partnership.

“We also have a foundation called the Richard N. Schulze Family Foundation, that has partnered with 100 Who Care organizations around the country to provide a 50% matching grant of the organization that the 100 Who Care choose matches the Shulze Family Foundation mission.”

She says she submits applications for each nonprofit they assist to that foundation.
