Athens Area Chamber of Commerce hosting free, nonpartisan Political Leadership Academy for potential candidates

Athens Area Chamber of Commerce

The Athens Area Chamber of Commerce is working to help would-be candidates.
The Chamber is hosting a Political Leadership Academy this month. The free two-day event is nonpartisan. It will feature advice from elected officials and the logistics of running from the Board of Elections.
David Bradley is president of the Chamber.

"We have people who are running, that we expect will run in this next election cycle,” Bradley said. “It’s a very important cycle. It’s a very great opportunity for real, practical advice. This is not meant to be a political event as much as it is an event to understand politics.”

He says the academy is open to anyone considering entering public service.

“To be in public office, to be an elected official, there’s an honor to doing that. There’s a commitment and there’s certainly a lot of responsibility.”
There are several ways to register to attend.

“They should call the Chamber of Commerce at 706-549-6800, they can email me at David.Bradley@athensga.com, or it’s available on our website.”

The academy takes place on October 18 and November 1. Topics covered include fundraising, marketing, and campaigning.
