Athens-Clarke County Unified Government is preparing to cook up a great holiday season as they get ready to receive applications for participants in this year’s Downtown Parade of Lights.

The ACC Government has opened online applications for the 2025 Downtown Parade that is set to take place on Thursday, December 4 starting at 7 p.m. The deadline to apply online and pay the $40 application fee is Tuesday, November 4 at 5:00 p.m.

The parade will start on the corner of Hancock Avenue and Pulaski Street and ends in front of the stage at City Hall. The float entries will be given priority, but if applicants do not enter a float, a group is allowed to perform between 30 seconds to a one-minute number at the stage.

This year's parade theme is “Cooking up a Great Holiday”. The idea for the theme was inspired by this year’s parade marshal Peter Dale, current owner of the Five & Ten restaurant. Dale is a native Athenian and graduate from the University of Georgia and has opened restaurants like The National, Seabear Oyster Bar, and more.
