Rock Lobsters to return to home ice tomorrow

Athens Rock Lobsters

The Athens Rock Lobsters return to their home ice tomorrow night after their debut season last year.

When Athens became the home of a professional hockey team in 2024, it raised the question: Can the Classic City be a hockey town?

Tomorrow, turnout at the home opener will show just how much the Crustacean Nation has grown.

Athens Rock Lobsters President Scott Hull says the team is grateful for how the Athens area community has embraced them.

“Nothing gets the guys more fired up than playing in front of 5,000+ every night, and, you know, they feed off that energy and that always gets us more W’s," Hull said.

The Rock Lobsters play their third road game tonight against the PeeDee Wildcats.

The outcome will set the stage for the home puck drop at 7:05 p.m. Saturday at Akins Ford Arena, when they face off with the Twin City Thunderbirds.
