Kate’s Club will be holding their 2025 Memory Walk on Sunday, November 9th.

Kate’s Club is a nonprofit that supports children and teens that have experienced the death of a parent, sibling or caregiver. According to the Childhood Bereavement Estimation Model, 1 in 10 Georgia children will experience the death of a parent or sibling by the age of 18.

William Perry is the Development Manager for Kate’s Club. He says the Memory Walk is about more than remembering those we have lost. According to Perry, “We have an opportunity for the grieving community to come out, not only to honor the person they’ve lost, but also to show others that they are not grieving alone."

The event will take place in Watkinsville at Thomas Farm Preserve on Nov 9th from 1 to 4pm.

More information on Kate’s Club and a link to register for the Memory Walk are available at Katesclub.org.

A native New Yorker, Lara is new to Athens, having just moved to this delightfully quirky town in 2021. She’s been working in broadcasting for the last 25 years in markets such as New York City, Los Angeles, Washington, DC, and Atlanta. When she’s not at WUGA, you can find Lara covered in cats, playing D&D, or skating (as a rookie) with Classic City Roller Derby.
