The last chance to vote in the election for Georgia’s Public Service Commission is tomorrow.

Two seats on the Commission are contested. They are currently filled by Republicans Tim Echols and Fitz Johnson, who are running against Democrats Alicia Johnson and Peter Hubbard.

The Public Service Commission regulates major for-profit utility companies, authorizing how much rates can change for paying customers.

In partisan primary races held in June, Echols, Fitz Johnson and Alicia Johnson won overwhelmingly. Hubbard won a July runoff election against another Democrat with 58% of the vote.

Fewer than 3,000 people voted in the Public Service Commission primaries in Athens-Clarke County. The general election is drawing more voters, however. Over 7,000 ballots were cast last Thursday alone in the general election in Athens-Clarke County.
