The Clarke County School District won a statewide award—including a $10,000 check—for its youth leadership initiatives.

The Georgia Charter System Foundation announced that CCSD won the 2025 Leadership Development Award on Wednesday in Athens. The foundation, which supports charter school systems around the state, recognized the district for two of its initiatives: the “Leader in Me” program and TedEd Student Talks. Both programs encourage students develop leadership and public speaking skills.

As a charter system, CCSD has signed an agreement with the state department of education releasing it from some statewide mandates. In exchange, the district must employ local school governance teams and adhere to different accountability standards.
