Additional Arrests Made in Death Investigation

The Athens-Clarke County Police Department has made additional arrests in the November 6 death of Antonio Jewell. According to a department release,19-year-old Demetris Allen and 18-year-old Christian Hull, both of Athens, were arrested on November 24. 19-year-old Chedric Stroud, also from Athens, was arrested on November 25. Each is charged with murder, armed robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and criminal street gang charges.

Police responded to a call of a person down in the 100 block of Madison Avenue around 8:15 p.m. on November 6, 2025. Officers found a male, later identified as 22-year-old Antonio Jewell of Winterville. EMS and the ACC Fire Department attempted life saving measures, however Jewell succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Police made three additional arrests in this case earlier this month in connection with the crime. 23-year-old Samtavious Clarke, 18-year-old Jeremiah Gresham, and 18-year-old Dion Nesbitt, all from Athens, were arrested and charged.
