Jackson Electric Membership Corporation plans to refund 16 million dollars to their members.

This December, over 200,000 current and former members of Jackson Electric Membership Corporation -- also known as Jackson EMC -- will receive a portion of a total of 16 million dollars in refund checks.

Jackson EMC is the largest electric cooperative in Georgia, and is headquartered in Jefferson. The cooperative serves ten counties, stretching from metro Atlanta to Athens.

Public Relations and Communication Director Wendy Jones said the refund reflected the organization’s commitment to their members, “Because Jackson EMC is a not-for-profit cooperative owned by the people we serve, any extra revenue after our costs and system investments goes back to our members," she stated.

Checks will be mailed to members in December.
