Democrat Eric Gisler has flipped a state house seat from red to blue. He narrowly defeated his Republican challenger Mack “Dutch” Guest IV in the race for the District 121 seat formerly held by Marcus Wiedower, who resigned from post suddenly. Gisler discussed his win.
“You know anything can happen in a Special Election,” Gisler said. “I think what we did was we had the right message, we had a message that resonates with voters, and probably more important than that we had a fantastic team of volunteers.”
Gisler said he’s working to serve all his constituents in both counties.
“Which I think is something that has been lacking in this position for several years now,” according to Gisler. “I plan to meet with leaders from both counties before session starts so I can make sure I’m aware of their needs before we get started.”
Gisler ran on affordability issues. He discussed his priorities when he heads to the state Capitol in January.
“That [affordability] applies to housing, food, energy. Really everything, and then health care access. That’s a becoming a real crisis in Georgia and it has been for a long time and it’s only getting worse.”
