Ireland has captured many writers’ hearts, including that of local author Leara Rhodes. Early this year, she will release her third novel on the experience of Irish immigrants in Georgia. Tybee Rhapsody will be released on January 16th at Hendershots from 7 to 9 pm.

Rhodes is also an Emerita Professor of Journalism at the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication and sat down with WUGA’s Emma Auer to discuss her novel.

Emma Auer is an award-winning reporter who joined WUGA as a full-time producer in 2024. She is also a graduate student in UGA's Romance Languages Department, studying French and Spanish. She covers the breadth of Northeast Georgia stories, from Athens City Hall to Winterville farmers' markets. Emma's work has also been heard on Georgia Public Broadcasting.
