A University of Georgia professor is being recognized for his work.
John Knox is the Josiah Meigs distinguished teaching professor of geography at the University of Georgia. He recently won the outstanding alumni award from the University of Wisconsin Madison’s department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences.
“I don’t know for sure, but I think I was nominated because I do both teaching and research,” Knox said. “Up till now, only researchers and broadcast meteorologists have been honored. I think that they wanted to rectify that a little bit, and so my career has both prongs, and I’ve tried to be good at both of them.”
Knox is best known for research on clear air turbulence forecasting. He says there is a long, historic connection between UGA and Wisconsin Madison.
