The Classic City Marathon recently confirmed that all races scheduled for tomorrow will still happen, despite inclement weather. Runners that don’t want to brave the elements have another option, though.
Classic City Marathon announced Wednesday that they opened a virtual option for all races including the marathon, half-marathon and relay events. To participate virtually, runners will complete their chosen distance any time before February 14 and upload their results online.
It was confirmed via social media yesterday evening that all events will still be held at 7:30 a.m. tomorrow.
The Classic City Marathon Association says they are coordinating with the Athens-Clarke County government and the ACC police department to ensure the safety of their runners. They expect about 1,500 of the over 1,800 original participants to be running in the streets of Athens tomorrow.
