University of Georgia president Jere Morehead delivered his State of the University address on Tuesday.

Morehead covered a range of university business, including the anticipated completion of the schools of medicine and nursing, student graduation rates, and the institution’s record $9.2 billion economic impact on the state. UGA’s Research and Development spending increased to $654 million.

“Our faculty's belief in purposeful research allows them to excel at translating their findings into impactful solutions,” according to Morehead.” Once again, in 2025, UGA ranked number one in the nation for products brought to the market. From developing new biotech innovations to cutting edge processes that eliminate harmful chemicals in our water.

UGA received over $300.2 million in contributions from alumni and friends of the university last year.
During Morehead’s tenure, UGA has seen Endowed chairs/professorships increased from 227 to 401.
