U.S. Senator Raphael Warnock reflected on the legacy of Civil Rights activist Reverend Jesse Jackson, who passed away at the age of 84 on Tuesday. Warnock called him a friend and an important and iconic civil rights leader.
“I remember Reverend Jackson as an inspiration from my childhood,” Senator Warnock said. “Here I was a kid growing up in public housing and I got to witness this Black man running run for President. He gave me a glimpse of what is possible and taught me to say, “I am somebody!”
Jesse Jackson was the founder and president of the Rainbow PUSH coalition.
