The recently signed amended Georgia budget will see another bonus for state employees, and additional funding for the state’s flagship university.

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp signed the amended FY26 budget on Tuesday. Among the priorities in the mid-year spending plan, a one-time salary boost for state workers.

“It also includes over $612 million to give a $2,000 one-time pay supplement to schoolteachers, state law enforcement, and other hardworking state workers,” Kemp said.
UGA will also see additional funding.

“$5.6 million for the University of Georgia’s nursing program building, and $11.43 million for accreditation and startup costs of UGA’s new School of Medicine.”

The measure also includes $2 billion in tax relief for property owners and taxpayers, who will see a one-time tax rebate up to $250.
