St. Mary’s Health Care System has rescheduled its Community Health Fair at the Athens Regional Library.
The new date for the free event is Tuesday, March 17, from 11 am until 3 pm. The health fair was scheduled for January and was postponed due to winter weather conditions. It will provide a wide range of services for attendees.
Kimberly Hemphill is Regional Director of Community Health and Wellbeing at St. Mary’s.
“Attendees can receive health screenings, talk one-on-one with clinical experts, learn about chronic disease prevention, get wellness education and connect with community resources,” according to Hemphill. She said, “We’ll have information on nutrition, mental health, physical activity, and safety. Really, the full spectrum of what helps individuals and their families live healthier lives.”
Hemphill said health education is a tool to help improve quality of life issues and providing access to services and information can significantly benefit those attending.
She said, “Many members of our community face challenges, whether it’s transportation, lack of insurance, or simply not knowing where to start. So, by bringing these services directly into the community, we’re helping create connections that empower people to take charge of their own health.”
The event is open to the community, you do not have to be a St. Mary’s patient and no insurance is necessary.
