North Oconee High School was evacuated on Friday while authorities investigated a bomb threat. According to a post on Oconee County Schools social media, the school was searched and the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office cleared the facility and found no ongoing threat.

Shortly after noon, students and staff were relocated from Titan Stadium to an indoor space that had been cleared by law enforcement. The district stated the school was evacuated out of an abundance of caution, after receiving an anonymous bomb threat via email Friday morning. At around 12:55 pm, the Sheriff’s Office issued the all-clear and parents were allowed to pick up their children.

As a precaution, nearby Rocky Branch Elementary School was also placed on lockdown.
