Athens business owner Russell Edwards is hosting a back-to-school party for community members this weekend.
“It’s going to be this Saturday, August 1, from 2 to 5 pm at the old Westclox on 100 Newton Bridge Road” Edwards said. “We’re having a back-to-school bash with enormous slip-and-slides, giveaways, food trucks, live music and some famous chocolate chip cookies.”
Edwards says the event is part of an effort to provide more family-friendly opportunities and facilities, particularly for young families.
“Athens sort of lacks fun businesses like putt putt, arcades, skating rink. You know we had one of those close recently. So, in that spirit, we’re hosting this back-to-school party to kind of create the vision that we’re trying to execute here on this property.
That party is Saturday from 2 to 5 pm, at the old Westclox at100 Newton Bridge Road.
