A recent study shows Georgia ranks near the bottom of the list for healthcare.
Analysts with the personal finance website WalletHub put Georgia at number 49 on the list of 50 states and Washington, D.C. They studied factors including average monthly insurance premiums, the number of physicians per capita, and the share of the population with health insurance.
According to writer and analyst Chip Lupo, “It struggled across all three of the major categories - 37th for costs, 49th for access, 43rd for health outcomes, and its biggest weakness is health insurance coverage. 49th out of 51 for the share of insured adults between the ages of 19 and 64, with only Texas and Oklahoma performing worse.”
Analysts say the average American spends around $15,000 each year on personal healthcare.
