The Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement (AADM) is hosting a civil rights training series beginning this Saturday at the Oconee Street United Methodist Church.
The Become a Justice Advocate Training Series is intended to help participants understand their civil rights, how to navigate court and complaint processes, and how to connect Athens locals with appropriate resources.
This first session focuses on how to identify discrimination and how to navigate the court system. It’s the first of three sessions in the training series. The series is free and will begin at 10:30 Saturday morning.
The AADM was founded in 2016 by Mokah-Jasmine Johnson and her husband, Knowa D. Johnson. The movement was founded to address allegations of discrimination by bars and businesses in downtown Athens, according to their website.
