The Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement is hosting a community discussion on Flock cameras. The “What the Flock? Community Discussion: Understanding Flock Cameras, Surveillance & Your Privacy” event is aimed at helping attendees understand how Flock cameras work, the type of information they collect, who can access that data, and how residents can find out if their license plates have been searched.
The meeting comes after an Athens Police Department employee was fired for misusing the Flock system to search for his former wife’s license plate multiple times in 2025. Additionally, a University of Georgia employee was suspended without pay for 20 days and demoted after conducting two unauthorized Flock searches. His access was also revoked.
Representatives from the Athens-Clarke County Police Department will be available to answer questions about the department’s use of Flock technology, access policies, oversight, and accountability measures.
