Democratic gubernatorial candidate Keisha Lance Bottoms will be in Athens Saturday morning.

The former Atlanta mayor is being hosted by UGA Students for Ossoff at 10:30 Saturday at Herty Field. It’s part of a tailgate ahead of the Georgia football game against Vanderbilt. There will be free food and free merchandise at the tailgate.

To attend Saturday’s tailgate with Bottoms, go to the UGA Students for Ossoff Instagram page.

This is the second time in the last month Bottoms has campaigned in Athens as she rallied with senator candidate Jon Ossoff at the Georgia Theatre on September 13. The two spoke to a sold-out room of more than 1,400 attendees.

“We are the people who do not scare easily,” Bottoms said. “We will not be distracted and we will not be denied. When you elect me, when you elect us, we are going to fight for you. We are going to build not just the Georgia we deserve, but the Georgia we can all be proud of. Thank you Athens. Go Dawgs. Let’s go Georgia.”

Bottoms is running against Rick Jackson to replace the outgoing Brian Kemp, who has served as Georgia’s governor since 2019.

Early voting for the next governor in Georgia begins Tuesday, October 13 and the general election day is November 3.
