Athens StoryCorps: Christina and William Fassbender

For couples who decide to get married, planning a wedding can be one of the most exciting and most stressful parts of their relationship. Whether it’s a small ceremony or a large one, the love displayed at weddings is often accompanied by friends and family all gathered to celebrate. In Christina and William Fassbender’s case, their wedding was shaping up to be a major affair. But when tragedy struck their family, the Fassbenders realized that love is more important than ceremony. StoryCorps Athens stories were recorded locally at the StoryCorps mobile booth at the Athens-Clarke County Library in the Fall of 2018. StoryCorps is part of a national initiative to record and preserve the stories of everyday people.
