Yesterday, 35 year old Joseph Baughns turned himself in for his connection to the July 27th murder of Jarred Lamar Sanders. According to the ACCPD, Baughns was booked on one count of Malice Murder. This all comes after a day long search for Baughns in Athens Clarke County.
Speaking following Baughns’ decision to turn himself in, Athens Police Chief Spruill stated, “We are pleased that Mr. Baughns decided to do the right thing and turn himself in.” Spruill added, “Otherwise, we would have spent whatever time necessary to find him. Keeping the community safe is the number one priority of all law enforcement in the Athens-Clarke County area.”
