African Perspectives for April 4, 2021

This first episode in the month of April is our second special Easter edition of the show during the pandemic.

As part of the celebration of Easter Sunday and the completion of the Passover, the show features a message of optimism on the COVID-19 pandemic as the United States appear to be moving towards the “end” of the pandemic with the availability of vaccines and wide-spread vaccination of the population.

The episode also advises on the need for continued observance of health officials' advice and social distancing.

This episode also features African news updates from Tanzania and Mozambique including the death of Tanzania’s fifth president, Mr. John Magufuli and the historic swearing in of the sixth and first femal president of Tanzania, Mrs. Samia Suluhu Hassan. It also features the call on the government of Mozambique by the international NGO, Human Rights Watch to take urgent measures to protect civilians fleeing an armed Islamist group in the town of Palma, in northern Cabo Delgado province.

As always, the episode featured selected enjoyable music from Africa and/or by Africans including selected tunes from the collections, Anointed Africa, The Rough Guide to The Music of Kenya and Tanzania, and Missa Luba, an African Mass.
