ACCPD Crime Statistics Show Crime Down in Athens


The Athens-Clarke County Police Department released the crime 2023 crime statistics Thursday and the numbers are down compared to 2022. Lt. Jody Thompson discussed the figures with WUGA.

According to the ACCPD, Crimes Against Property are down more that 2.5 percent and Crimes Against Persons were down nearly seven percent, particularly when it comes to Aggravated Assault, which is down 10 percent.

Burglaries and Motor Vehicles Theft were also down, while Crimes Against Society, which include DUI, drunkenness, and liquor violations were significantly. To view the numbers, visit the ACCPD transparency site online.
