FEMA Releases Rumor Control Page

Federal Emergency Management Agency

The Federal Emergency Management Agency released a rumor control pageto avoid the spread of false information regarding Hurricane Florence.

The page addressed concerns like whether evacuation shelters are required to accommodate pets.

The federal government also deployed a variety of resources to deal with the impact of Florence. These include efforts by the United States Coast Guard to pre-stage in areas expected to be affected by the storm.

The United States Army Corps of Engineers, alongside “40,000 workers from at least 17 states,” will work to ensure continuity of power.

President Donald Trump also approved emergency disaster declarations for North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia to provide relief resources in those states.
