ACC Mayor/Commission to vote re New Development

Athens-Clarke County Planning Department

The Athens-Clarke County Mayor and Commission will vote on Tuesday night on whether or not to approve plans for a new multi-family residential development on the intersection of Pulaski and Barrow Streets.

Set on roughly two and a half acres of land, the project proposes three separate, three-story structures housing a total of 16 two to three bedroom units. If approved, the plan includes a special request to move forward without the addition of a commercial development, since the land falls on a commercial-neighborhood zone.

The project is proposed by Lori Bork Newcomer of Bork Design. According to the proposal, the design is “largely similar to the contemporary design of the new constructions on Pulaski Street.” Surrounded by single-family residential homes, questions have been cast by some commissioners about affordability and density.

The meeting will be streamed on the county’s YouTube page at 6 p.m. tomorrow.
