Clarke County Schools Continue Virtual Learning Through at Least Feb. 5

The Clarke County School District issuing its weekly update Friday afternoon.
A release from the district states Athens-Clarke County and the surrounding region are still experiencing high levels of COVID cases,which continue to strain local healthcare facilities.

Based on current conditions, CCSD will continue with remote learning for all students through at least Friday, February 5, 2021.

 
The release also says staff members have begun receiving vaccines. Employees over the age of 65 have been given the opportunity to receive the COVID-19 vaccine as part of Phase 1 A+ of the state of Georgia's vaccination rollout plan. Teachers and school staff can begin to receive the COVID-19 vaccine as soon as the state transitions to Phase 1 B. In addition, the district is continuing to provide free student meals during virtual learning.
