ESP Hosts Big Hearts in Bloom Fundraiser

Extra Special People is holding its 13th annual Big Hearts fundraiser this weekend. The Classic Center is once again the setting for the nonprofit’s largest fundraiser. This year’s theme is Big Hearts in Bloom. Jake Sapp is the program director he says there will be some high-profile Georgians with Athens ties supporting the event.

“One of the exciting things this year is former University of Georgia football great David Pollack is actually pitching in and he’s going to be one of our celebrity MCs,’ Sapp said. “Along with him we have Joss Murray, who his family, his brother played quart back for the University of Georgia. He was on “The Bachelor.”

ESP celebrates the achievements of children and young adults with disabilities. Sapp says the organization no one is turned away.

“So the funds raised on Saturday go directly towards making the programs at ESP accessible to people, no matter what their income level is and we never turn away a participant based on financial status or anything like that.”

Participants never age out of ESP. Currently the organization has members from age 4 to 57.

The evening will feature performances from ESP participants, a silent auction and a few surprises.

It takes place Saturday in the Classic Center Theater. The show starts at 4, but events begin at 2 pm.
