Fundraiser Success For Extra Special People

More than $350,000 was raised at Extra Special People’s annual Big Hearts fundraiser, smashing the evening’s goal while raising money for children and young adults with disabilities.

The evening’s fundraiser banquet had a goal to raise $110,000, and ended up raising $200,000. The silent auction and Big Hearts at Bat performance together raised $150,000 for the cause.

That funding will go toward making sure children “of every ability and financial need” will have the opportunity to experience the joys of summer camp.

Big names like UGA’s Jake Fromm and Fox Sports South host and Atlanta Braves field reporter Kelsey Wingert added to the draw of the evening, overseeing the pageant as special emcees.

After the success of the fundraiser, ESP says that it’s “just $300,000 short of goal of $1.4 million to build a Miracle League complex and splash pad.”

Through after-school programs, weekend clubs, family resources and an eight week long summer camp, Extra Special People reaches more than 300 families and children with special needs in the 30 counties surrounding Watkinsville, GA.
