Georgia Continues to See Increase in COVID-19 Cases

According to the Georgia Health Department, the state now has nearly 429-thousand cases of COVID-19 and 8,830 confirmed deaths. Health officials link another 737 probable deaths to the virus.

Athens-Clarke Country has just over 6,800 confirmed cases and 55 deaths, that’s up one from Tuesday.

The University of Georgia is also reporting coronavirus numbers.

For the week of Thanksgiving, from November 23rd to the 27th, 2,138 asymptomatic tests were performed and only 17 of them were positive, or about 0.79 percent.

An additional 55 positive cases were reported from the Health Center and other off-campus testing facilities.

Of the 71 cases at UGA last week, 18 of them were among staff and faculty and the remaining 53 cases were among students.
