Georgia Tops One Million Confirmed Cases of COVID-19 Infections

The state of Georgia reached a grim milestone Tuesday. The Department of Public Health reported Georgia topped the one million mark in confirmed COVID-19 cases.

Tuesday’s 42-hundred plus cases are down significantly from the more than 14-thousand reported Monday. According to the agency, there were 220 people hospitalized and 24 confirmed deaths in Georgia Tuesday.

The state is currently at 89 percent of its ICU bed capacity and 85 percent of inpatient beds in general. In Region E, which contains Athens, 596 general inpatient beds are use, out of a total of 636. That’s 93 percent of the total.
