Grady College Hosts Premiere Screening of 'Grady Greats'

UGA’s Grady College holding the premiere screening of Grady Greats, a conversation with Grady alumni taped at ABC’s The View Studio in New York. Grady grad Robin Hommel, Senior Broadcast Producer of The View is Executive Producer of the project. She says the idea came about after UGA won the Rose Bowl.

“I had been in touch with Parker [Middleton] and I said you know, I would really like to do something where we can highlight the people that are opening doors for all us and continue to do that,” Hommel said. “There are these Grady greats that are in our orbit and it would be sort of nice to spotlight them and this idea was born to do a panel.”

Among the greats taking part in the film: Charlayne Hunter-Gault who served as moderator, ABC’s Deborah Roberts, Deborah Norville with Inside Edition, Lisa Ryan Howard with the New York Times, ABC corresponded Will Carr, and Amy Robach, also with ABC.

Parker Middleton, Executive Senior Director of Strategy and Engagement at Grady College. She says hopes students feel encouraged after viewing Grady Greats.

“I hope that they feel optimistic,” Middleton said. “I hope that they feel able to change the world through their work as communicators as journalists, as documentarians, I hope they feel enormously hopeful, and that they’re giving our culture and our generations ahead hope.”

Students from DiGamma Kappa assisted in the production. The film will be screened at Cine on April 25 and will air on G-Span.
