A team of researchers that includes a faculty member at the University of Georgia has identified a specific circuit in the brain that alters food impulsivity creating the possibility that scientists can someday develop therapeutic methods to treat overeating.
Emily Noble, as assistant professor in the UGA College of Family and Consumer Sciences served as the lead author on the paper. The says there’s underlying physiology in the brain that regulated a person’s capacity to say no to impulsive eating and in experimental models, they found that the circuitry can be activated to get a specific behavioral response.
