Yet another Athens area nonprofit is holding a virtual celebration and fundraising event. The Athens-Clarke County Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners or SANE, is holding its Third Annual Survive to Thrive event Thursday. Michelle Dickens is the organization’s Executive Director.
“We normally have a luncheon every year, and it normally has about 250 people and that’s just not an option, so instead, we are gonna live-stream on Thursday evening and we are gonna have a survivor speak and tell about the impact SANE had on her, and we’re also gonna have a really fun live auction.”
SANE provides a range of services for sexual assault victims in ten counties. All services are free.
“We provide forensic medical care, we provide court testimony and community education related to sexual and physical assault.”
Dickens says supporters can participate at any time during the event.
“The auction is going to be hosted by Arthur & Arthur, people can register through our website. The auction will be open during the event, so if they just log on Thursday night, they’ll be able to hop on and participate.”
The auction is 7 pm tomorrow. SANE is also celebrating its 25th anniversary. Visit the nonprofit’s website at saneinc.org or its Facebook page for more information.
