Vehicle Theft and Kidnapping Suspect Arrested

On Feb. 10, Athens-Clarke County Police responded to a BOLO for a vehicle that had been stolen with the victim's 11-month-old daughter still inside. Both were quickly located not far from where the incident had occured.

Early Thursday morning, ACCPD arrested Justin M. Robinson, 23 of Athens, for Motor Vehicle Theft and the Kidnapping of an infant in connection to that incident.

Based on tips from the department's Facebook page seeking help in identifiying a suspect in a Feb. 28 burglary, detectives determined that Robinson was the suspect in both cases.

Around 2 a.m. on Feb. 7, ACCPD initiated a traffic stop on Dougherty Street near College Avenue, and determined that Robinson was the driver.

In addition to the two warrants, Robinson  charged with Failure to Maintain Lane, Giving False Name to LEO, Driving without a Valid License, Possession of Methamphetamine and Open Container. Robinson was arrested and transported to the Clarke County Jail.

ACCPD appreciates the valuable help from the public in identifying Robinson and congratulates our detectives, patrol officers and communication officers who worked on this case since the initial incident on February 10, 2019.
