Lynndie England Pleads Guilty to Abu Ghraib Charges
Under a deal with prosecutors, Army Pfc. Lynndie England pleads guilty to seven of nine criminal charges against her in connection with the abuse scandal at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq. If accepted by the judge, the plea would lower England's maximum sentence to 11 years from 16 1/2 years.

House Approves Military Package with ID Measure

The House of Representatives is reviewing legislation that would require the United States to take a stronger role in preventing genocide in Sudan's Darfur region. The act includes measures such as freezing of assets and sanctions against those who have committed atrocities. Roberta Cohen of the Brookings Institution explains the obstacles to ending the violence.
