Since the 1970s, the Friends of the Museum have raised money to support its mission and spread the word about its exhibitions and programs, but the organization has changed over the years. One of the most recent changes was making the introductory level of the Friends free. People who want to become Friends can fill out a simple form at jointhemuseum.com and receive an email newsletter with museum happenings every Monday, discounts on admission to select ticketed events and a digital membership card on their smartphone.
Want to donate to support the mission of the Georgia Museum of Art? You can upgrade to become a Friend and Annual Fund Member on the same site. UGA employees can even do so through payroll deduction, spreading out their giving throughout the year. Friends + Annual Fund Members who give $125 or more over a fiscal year receive additional benefits such as a print version of the museum’s newsletter in their mailbox, a discount in the Museum Shop and reciprocal membership discounts and privileges at more than 1,000 museums throughout the United States and Canada. If you like to travel and visit museums, it’s well worth the admission fees you’ll save around the country. All gifts to the Annual Fund are one hundred percent tax deductible and support the museum’s free programming for everyone in the community and the approximately 20 temporary exhibitions it organizes every year.
