Since the 1970s, the Friends of the Museum have raised money to support its mission and spread the word about its exhibitions and programs, but the organization has changed over the years. One of the most recent changes was making the introductory level of the Friends free. People who want to become Friends can fill out a simple form at jointhemuseum.com and receive an email newsletter with museum happenings every Monday, discounts on admission to select ticketed events, and a digital membership card on their smartphone.

UGA employees can even do so through payroll deduction, spreading out their giving throughout the year. Friends + Annual Fund Members who give $125 or more over a fiscal year receive additional benefits such as a print version of the museum’s newsletter mailed to them, a discount in the Museum Shop and reciprocal membership discounts and privileges at more than 1,200 museums throughout the United States and Canada.
]If you like to travel and visit museums, it’s well worth the admission fees you’ll save around the country. All gifts to the Annual Fund are one hundred percent tax deductible and support the museum’s free programming, including temporary exhibitions.
Join through September 30 and you’ll be entered into a “New Friends Raffle” to win prizes. Friends Appreciation Month runs through September 30, with special events you can find out about by joining.
