Monica Kaufman Pearson started her career when she was still in high school, reading prayers, and doing voiceovers for a local radio station. She graduated from the University of Louisville and went on to the Summer Program for Minority Groups at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism.
In 1975, she joined WSB-TV, where she became the first minority and the first woman to host the daily evening news in Atlanta. She was with WSB-TV for 37 years until she retired, earning 33 local and regional Emmy awards.
Among her many accolades, Monica has been inducted into the National Association of Black Journalists Hall of Fame and the Georgia Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame.
She currently co-hosts the GPB show, A Seat at the Table.
