Mariachi Sol de Mexico de Jose Hernandez
Everyone knows Halloween is spooky. For Mexicans, the day after is joyful. The UGA Performing Arts Center celebrates el Día de los Muertos — the Day of the Dead — Wednesday, November 1st with Mariachi Sol de Mexico de Jose Hernandez. The Los Angeles-based group tours internationally, has been nominated three times for Grammy Awards and has played for five U.S. presidents. They've even appeared with Lady Gaga. Leader Jose Hernandez is a fifth-generation mariachi. His Sol de Mexico has collaborated with the Beach Boys and Willie Nelson and can be heard in such films as Seabiscuit, Glory Road and Don Juan de Marco.
