Ladysmith Black Mambazo

Performing Arts Center

Sixty years ago, a young South African man had persistent dreams, all involving the sweetest choral singing. He was inspired to give his own vocal group a new approach and a new name: Ladysmith Black Mambazo. Twenty years after that, Ladysmith Black Mambazo got a huge boost from Paul Simon, by way of his Graceland album. Ladysmith Black Mambazo appears at Hodgson Concert Hall on Leap Day, Thursday, February 29th at 7:30. Sons of founder Joseph Shabalala and their cousins carry on the group's international legacy. For tickets to Ladysmith Black Mambazo, visit PAC.UGA.EDU or call the box office at (706) 542-4400.
