Sometimes music sounds like what it's about. By the late Australian composer Philip Houghton, the piece "Black Opal" invites you to imagine turning a black opal in your hand and seeing flecks and flashes of prismatic color. You can hear it live Sunday, Sept. 22nd as the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet visits the UGA Performing Arts Center. Their program ranges from J.S. Bach to Beethoven's "Moonlight" Sonata to music of the last 100 years. A member of the group, William Kanengeiser, arranged Aaron Copland's Two Mexican Pieces for the quartet. The second is Danza de Jalisco. For tickets to the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, visit PAC.UGA.EDU or call the box office at (706) 542-4400.
