The American Liszt Society honors Franz Liszt, a towering 19th century pianist and composer. Their annual festival begins here Sunday, and it includes a modern Liszt: Canadian virtuoso pianist and composer Marc-André Hamelin. This is music by Liszt, played by Hamelin with his trademark clarity. Tuesday, October 15th at Hodgson Concert Hall, Hamelin will give a recital including this piece and Beethoven's massive "Hammerklavier" Sonata. Hamelin will also give the world premiere of his Lament on the Death of Chopin. This is one of his own etudes in Chopin's style. For tickets to the Marc-Andre Hamelin recital, visit PAC.UGA.EDU or call the box office at (706) 542-4400.
