Jason Moran

Jazz pianist, composer and MacArthur "genius grant" winner Jason Moran is at Hodgson Concert Hall Feb. 27. His program, Duke Ellington: My Heart Sings, is a loving take on the master's work. A solo set will be followed by collaboration with the Hugh Hodgson School of Music's Jazz Ensemble I. They'll tackle early Ellington classics like "East St. Louis Toodle-oo." And Moran's wife, Alicia Hall Moran, will join the group for one of the most famous tunes in the Ellington repertoire, "It Don' Mean a Thing." For tickets to Jason Moran and the UGA Jazz Ensemble I, visit PAC.UGA.EDU or call the box office at (706) 542-4400.
